Wash & Fold laundry pickup in San Mateo

"When I married my husband, I told him straight up that I would not be ironing for him. Like ever. I didn't even iron my wedding dress. No joke. Worried I'd burn through it lol. This wasn't a worry, we never thought he'd be corporate or anything. Well here we are, husband wears slacks and a button down shirt daily, and sometimes a suit or jacket - and I've kept my promise. Hell no, I won't be ironing your clothes. I only own an iron because we have kids and they used to make things out of perler beads, which I would then melt together with the iron. I don't even want to take a Santa Claus bag of dirty clothes to the cleaner, and then days later, drive back, stand in line, pick the clean ironed hung clothes up, bend over in a weird way to try to get it to hang on that hook inside of the car's back seat. Plus it only would hold like 4 hangers, so I'd have to go to the cleaners multiple times a week? Nope. So years ago I signed up with Purple Tie to come get the clothes off of my doorstep and then deliver the next day, clean, pressed, perfect, and hung. Lovely. The only work I have to do is try to close the door with my foot as carry the cleaned clothing with both arms (because I tend to wait to long to place an order lol) to the closet in the back bedroom. I quickly hang then unwrap the clothing (plastic is recyclable through Ridwell) and space it nicely and step back and beam - I didn't have to wash iron hang and the closet is full again anyway. Perfection! I LOVE Purple Tie. You should too. You should definitely try them - put that iron away, get it out only for kid crafts! Sometimes I feel sad for the iron - but it has no feelings - and Purple Tie is much better!"

Of course, I found out about Purple Tie through Yelp. I had wanted to use a service that was close by, but most importantly, was environmentally friendly. I didn't want my clothes to smell like nasty chemicals.

I was quite surprised by how easy it was to do this. In fact, it seemed almost TOO EASY!! I signed up on their website and scheduled a pick-up the same day in the evening, and all I had to do was leave my clothes in a bag in front of my door! The sign-up process was so easy, I almost wasn't sure I did it right, but, I did! Go me!

In terms of pricing, since I have never had clothes dry-cleaned, I can't really compare. Supposedly, the prices are comparable to other green-dry-cleaners, plus, THEY PICK UP YOUR STUFF AND BRING IT BACK TO YOU!! I'm by no means rich, but I felt like I paid a little more and got a LOT more back in return!

For my first order, I even got $20 off for mentioning Yelp! Yay!

Plus, a really nice man called to make sure my experience was a good one. Now, I didn't answer the phone, but he left a nice long message that seemed to show that this company wants to keep your business. They also gave us a durable re-usable bag for next time, and you can be sure I will use their service again. Perhaps not anytime soon, but when I finally have to do dry-cleaning again, I will simply book it online! So easy! This is now the only way I will do any dry-cleaning! I'm spoiled! =D"

"I love this company. I use the wash and fold service at home and my husband uses dry cleaning through a work account. Both deliver a fast and reliable service. Also, if you mess up (like forgetting to label a bag of laundry) Nicolas will take care of you as if they had committed the error. If they actually do make a mistake (like unexplained purple ink stains all over a load of laundry; don't hate on them, it happens to everyone) Nicolas will fix it. This may shock you but I have had both experiences. The labeling was clearly my fault. I emailed them once I figured it out and Nicolas called me first thing the next business day. He set realistic expectations and exceeded them by finding my laundry right away. He called as soon as he found it and had it dropped off that night. When it comes to the mysterious purple stains, Nicolas arranged for the stained clothing to be picked up and asked for a weekend to try and get the stains out. On Monday he called me to discuss the results of his efforts. He was able to get the stains out of all but one shirt; I should have asked for his secret. He didn't stop there. He credited my account and made every effort to ensure my satisfaction with their service. I HIGHLY recommend this company. Not only do they have a fantastic product that is affordable and will change your relationship with chores, they truly value each and every customer."

"I've used their services about 5 times now and I think the are great! They pick up at my work on Tuesdays and return my stuff cleaned on Fridays. After a few orders, they even give you a bag to put your clothes in so you don't have to keep using a new plastic bag each time. Once you give them your credit card, they have it on file and you don't have to keep putting your credit card in with your orders.

I have had them dry clean slacks, silk dresses, delicate beaded tops, silk scarves, etc - and everything has come back perfect. The reason I started using them was I was tired of that strong cancerous smell that other dry cleaners use and since their pricing is about the same, I've switched to Purpletie.

Lastly and why they get a 5 star, they have called me a few times when I have sent stuff in that was really delicate just to tell me that they will take gentle care of it but there is a chance something might happen, they just wanted me to be aware. That feels better to me than a place who just does it and then hands me back a damaged dress with no care. These guys care about their work and the few times they have said it, my stuff has come back in great shape with no damage.

"It was like a big factory warehouse type of deal, Was cheap as i only dry cleaned my Ties for $4 each which i did 5 ties. If you buy on their yelp page they have a really awesome deal which is $10 for a $20 voucher. Which made the ties like $2 each.

Looks like they service big companies and buniess as they have cars coming in and out dropping clothes off. That individual people like us get some good pricing but you can tell we are defiantly not their number 1 priority.

All my ties were nice and clean except for one which i have got a curry stain on my white tie of course. You can barley see it so they didi get a good chuck of it out but i wasn't to worried as i only paid $2 :) to get it clean .

Overall i like this place very much but the only thing is not really sure how long dry cleaner takes but it took them 4 days just to clean those ties. So not very fast at all in my option ."

"PurpleTie had to redo my trench coat because the fabric is kind of sheen and it's hard to see stains on it. It's actually more visible when it's not so bright but they were very good about the redo. When the redo came back, they had plastic tagged the belt, wrist belts, and shoulder epaulets. It caused some holes in all of the pieces since the garment is that special fabric from the famous trench coat maker that begins with the letter "B". I called them up and brought the coat back to them and they called the next day offering me a $100 as compensation. Accidents do happen but people rarely live up to it. Add on top, Eddie's call to apologize and we just felt special. In the grand scheme of things, most people won't know those holes are there except for me and my husband. We don't know of any other dry-cleaners that own up to mistakes the way they do! Kudos!"
